Planning ahead is your best bet to prevent and survive a fire. Below is a list for home fire prevention:

  • Smoke Alarms - Every home should have at least one working smoke alarm. Test is monthly, keep it free from dust and replace the battery at least once a year.

  • Electrical - Prevent electrical fires, never over load circuts or extension cords. Do not place cords in high traffic areas.

  • Sprinklers - When home fire sprinklers are used with working smoke alarms, your chances of escaping a fire are greatly increased. Sprinklers are affordable, they can increase property value and may lower insurance rates.

  • Escape Plan - Plan your escape with your family, practise an escape plan from every room in your house. Caution everyone to stay low to the floor and never open doors that are hot. Agree on a location where everyone can meet once outside of the house.
